Old Penitentiary March 28, 2009

Filed under: Alicia, Brad, Emma — egwights @ 4:28 am

It was a gorgeous day today, so we decided to go to the Old Penitentiary. We had a great time! Definitely not a place I would want to stay. We were able to go around to all the buildings, solitary confinement (yikes), the gallows and death row building, all the cells, a museum with all the WWII weapons, and more.

The cells were extremely small. This one isn’t too bad, because the other one’s had 2-4 people that had to stay in one about the same size! Very dirty!

Emma’s 1 year pictures March 15, 2009

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Emma when she turned a year old. I’ll probably regret not taking her in for professional pictures, but I don’t think I would have been able to get her to give such good smiles!

Brad’s Birthday March 3, 2009

Brad was at school and work for his entire birthday, so we pushed off the celebration to the weekend. Brad’s parents came up – and I’ll let you know, our table and kitchen countertop were covered in cookies, cakes, rolos, carmellos, and all sorts of sugar! Emma is pretty happy with the miny-Emma cookies, and I’m trying to resist the pile…  We then met up with Aunt Annetta and Grandpa and went out to eat at the Texax Roadhouse. WOW!!! We were completely satisfied with the steamy, fresh roles and cinnamin butter, and then came the meat! I have to agree with Brad – Texas knows how to cook their meat! We were thoroughly impressed! Brad’s never too excited when his birthday come around, but I think we all had a good time.

Emma’s 1st Birthday March 3, 2009

Emma, as you all know, is unseparable from her monkies, so I figured a monkey cake would be great! So I went to find a monkey cake pan, and had absolutely no luck. I did happen to find a Dora the Explorer cake pan though, and I figured, if evolutionists could say humans evolved from monkeys, I could reverse it and turn a Dora into a monkey, right? Well, it didn’t turn out the greatest, but it resembles a monkey, so my work is done!

Special Olympics March 3, 2009

Well, Brad is a genius, and was able to retrieve all my stuff! It’s so wonderful having my own personal computer guru! So over the next little bit, I’ll try to get some good pictures and updates posted. My parents came up to Boise to watch their Indian special olympic team compete on floor hockey, and Emma and I were able to sneak over and watch a little bit. We had a good time; Emma wasn’t too pleased with the India team poking her cheeks and holding her, but it was a fun experience. They loved the little white baby!  I’m glad we were able to go! Also, there were some people from Tokyo on the stands that saw Emma, and gave her some cute origami things and a pin.
