Volleyball October 15, 2009

Filed under: Alicia — egwights @ 8:57 pm

I was so excited when I found a co-ed church group that plays volleyball once a week, and they’re really good! It’s not like a bunch of girls getting together to socialize (which is ok sometimes), but it’s really nice to finally be able to actually play again and have it be a challenge to do well! So it took me a while to get back in the swing of it because I haven’t played for years. As the weeks have gone on – I am finally getting all my skills back, but I’ve noticed as my skills improve – the blood and bruises increase. It wasn’t  necessary for knee pads at first, but I must say I won’t forget knee pads next week….

Old Penitentiary March 28, 2009

It was a gorgeous day today, so we decided to go to the Old Penitentiary. We had a great time! Definitely not a place I would want to stay. We were able to go around to all the buildings, solitary confinement (yikes), the gallows and death row building, all the cells, a museum with all the WWII weapons, and more.

The cells were extremely small. This one isn’t too bad, because the other one’s had 2-4 people that had to stay in one about the same size! Very dirty!

Special Olympics March 3, 2009

Well, Brad is a genius, and was able to retrieve all my stuff! It’s so wonderful having my own personal computer guru! So over the next little bit, I’ll try to get some good pictures and updates posted. My parents came up to Boise to watch their Indian special olympic team compete on floor hockey, and Emma and I were able to sneak over and watch a little bit. We had a good time; Emma wasn’t too pleased with the India team poking her cheeks and holding her, but it was a fun experience. They loved the little white baby!  I’m glad we were able to go! Also, there were some people from Tokyo on the stands that saw Emma, and gave her some cute origami things and a pin.

We want to give a HUGE thanks to Rachael Wight for taking these pictures for us over the Thanksgiving break! She’s got such a great skill! I think they turned out great! These are the first real pictures we’ve gotten of us as a family since Emma’s been born. It’s so much more fun when there’s a little person!

Well, after three years of being in the nursery in each ward Brad and I have moved into, I was expecting something similar. That didn’t happen. I have been called to be the Laurel adviser. I feel like I just got out of Young Women’s, and to be put back in as a teacher, is a little scary! I’m excited though; this should be a fun one, once I get over the fear of teaching twice a month! It will keep me busy though – which will be good. (I’ll put up a Thanksgiving post  on Emma’s nap – she freaks out if there’s a computer on that she can’t mess with!)

Dr Mom October 2, 2008

Filed under: Alicia, Emma — egwights @ 5:31 pm

Well – It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so here’s the update and a few of my favorite recent pictures of Emma.  On last Wed. night Emma started getting pretty sick with a fever and continued to have a pretty high temp. for about 4 days and 2 doctor visits later (nothing helpful from doctors, as they weren’t sure what was causing it). Then, it started going down so we thought we were past this, only to have a rash show up on her chest, back, neck, and face. I was looking through a book with child illnesses and found Roseola, and called the doctor to confirm that this is what she had. Brad thinks we should be able to get a refund since I diagnosed her before the doctor did – sounded good to me – but no luck :)   . Yesterday, her rash started to disappear and we’re starting to see the happy little girl again. What a relief; she looked so miserable when she was sick! It’s been a long week with no sleep for any of us.

Emma loves to be standing up and cruising along the furniture and walls. She also loves the fact that she can feed herself crackers and other little finger-foods, which isn’t the greatest thing, because now she’s not that excited about mommy trying to put mush in her mouth. She’s growing up to fast for me! She’s even getting a little temper! I’ll try to block off an area by laying in front of it, and if she can’t figure a way around it she just sits back down and screams until she’s distracted or gets her way. Don’t let the cute, smiling face fool ya!

Happy Birthday October 2, 2008

Filed under: Alicia — egwights @ 4:57 pm

Well, sadly to say, I am now 23. This was first brought to my attention when my Grandpa called at 7 AM to sing ‘Happy Birthday.’ We did have a fun day together eating at Fudruckers, watching movies, and eating ice-cream snickers bars!! My mom was able to come up a few days before and took us out to the Olive Garden! Thanks Mom! Though I’m sure she was more excited to see Emma moving around and to give her finger puppets that she loves to carry around in her mouth, or viciously grab and throw off of your fingers. Also – thank you Judy for the card and gift!

Anniversary August 18, 2008

Filed under: Alicia, Brad, Emma — egwights @ 9:36 pm

Well -Brad and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on the 12th with steak, baby-back ribs, and chocolate cake. We had a really great time, and the food was delicious. It’s amazing how fast times goes….it seems like just yesterday we were down in my parents basement holding hands to Indiana Jones (okay – maybe a few weeks ago :)   )

We are now in Boise and loving the bigger city. Brad transferred to the Home Depot up here, and it’s not as busy as the one in Twin – so he feels like the time kinda drags on, but school will be starting soon, so he’ll be plenty busy. Although it took Emma a while to adjust – everything is going great now. I’ve been bugged by a few people that the blog hadn’t been updated in a while, so here are a few pictures of Emma. She’s now 6 months and is starting to pull herself up a bit, and trying to crawl, though she can only go backwards at the moment.
